  • Haven't updated in awhile...

    Let's see...where to start.

My brother proposed to his GF of 10 years. She said yes.I'm the maid of honor.

    I turned 24.

My 3 month probation period (for work) is over.

    Thanksgiving dinner was a success.

    Black Friday shopping was interesting.

    Work still sucks.

My FAVORITE pair of 6gauge earrings broke.CRIES.I bought a new one. It's growing on me.

    It's getting colder and colder.

    Southern Buttes, near Yuba City.

Taken at sunrise...that's actually the moon.

  • Sunrises and Sunsets...

I've never seen so many until EDAW.  I've been working 12 hour days...for about a month now.

I even work on Saturdays...only for a few hours though...but that just takes up my weekend.

I am worried that...I will soon be numb to sunrises...as a kid I used to wake up early to watch the sunrise...and then crawl back in bed.

I love the colors of both sunrises and sunsets...

    But...now...

I wake up at 5am in the morning...drive an hour or more to a work site...and in that hour of driving...I see the most amazing sunrise...but I don't take it all in...I think to myself, "meh, I'll see it 2m, I'll take a picture of it 2m."

When work is done for the day, the sun is setting...and all I can think about it getting home...and sleeping.

I want to be a kid again...

  • Yes, I'm blogging at work...

So, what you going to do about it?! HUH?!

I haven't been on this thing for awhile...I haven't been on AIM either.

I've learned that working takes a lot of my personal time.

I don't have time to take pictures.
I don't see my Berkeley friends as much as I would like...I doesn't help that I'm living in Davis.

Sitting in my cube is so mindless.  My supervisor likes to screw me over with the scheduling.  He knows that I drive back to San Francisco on Fridays...and I get every other Friday off...but he still schedules me to work on my Fridays off and on Saturdays...

Going in the field is starting to get a little discouraging too.  I'm never really confident with my direction skills...(I'm those type of people that will still get lost with a GPS)...

I know it's only my first month...but I hope this feeling of overwhelming hopelessness is over soon.

This painting is a bit morbid (eyeballs!!!) but, I'm in a kind of morbid dark mood right now.

  • Haven't been on this thing for a while...

    I have a few things to say...and it's

    1. I think biologists are an odd group...

    2. I miss taking pictures

    3. It's fucking hot is Sacramento/Davis

    4. I'm lost...

  • Work at EDAW...

I work for an on-call Wildlife Biologist...so I have to be ready for a field day at anytime...so, I have a locker with all my field clothes in it...

But for now...He has me reading project reports on Levees...

...and Valley Elderberry Long Horned Beetles, Giant Garter Snakes and Fairy Shrimp...

  • I really don't like talking about my personal life on xanga but...

Yesterday was my last day working for Park Conservancy...it was kinda bittersweet...

I spent most of my day hiking the trails that I grew to love and hate...
I sat at the Point and watched the fog roll into Pacifica.
I weeded mustard, radish, and tistle.
Most of all, I took in the sounds of the ocean.

I know I'll miss my co workers and boss.  They are amazing people that do so much for the environment...

    ChewBe at Mori Point

As this chapter in my life ends, I will be starting a new
one...this time in Sacramento.  I will be moving to Davis this
weekend...and starting a full time permanent job at EDAW, Inc.

  • Where has...

    summer gone?!

    It's already mid-August?!

Summer goes by so quickly when you're working...(well, at least for me...my work is kinda enjoyable...)

  • Clear Lake Camping Trip

We made PBnJ sandwiches for breakfast one morning on our camping trip...

When he was finished, I cut our sandwich in half.  He took one half and I the other.  Without knowing it, we took a bite on the same place...

We didn't even notice until we put our halves down.

  • Ryan Jones

I went to the Parks Conservancy's tribute to "The Celebration of his Life"...and was blown away by the amount of people gathered to celebrate it.

Think of a crowded lecture hall (say, 500 seats)...+ people standing, sitting and listening outside.

This young man has touched so many people...

and I was lucky enough to know him...
